Hi Everyone. I'm kind of overwhelmed at the welcome here! Thanks!
I just bought my first lamp ever. I had a question about it and so a little research later had me filled with plenty of additional questions but no real answer to my first one...
As I mentioned I just bought and received my first lamp. It seems it is a Lava brand lamp which was strange since I thought there was only one "lava" company Lava Lite. I ordered the 14" orange liquid with white "wax" but the lamp I… Continue

27 in tall, was bought new, includes original boxes and bulb. Was working great but for unknown reason the pink lava started to stick to the side of the glass. I removed the top and tried to scrap the glass clean, it started working good again but then started to stick once again. Anyone know how to help

I have an old Simplex Wave Machine that developed a crack in the acylic and lost its' content. I really like the relaxing appearance of the wave. I need some insight as to the nature of the two liquids contained in the wave machine. I would guess the contents are less complex and fussy that the Lava lamp. I would appreciate any comments regarding the liquids.
My intent is to manufacture a new generation Wave Machine, with some new twists, such as LED illumination. This would be a… Continue

What are the odds? On Tuesday, Feb. 24th, Saturn and Comet Lulin will converge in the constellation Leo only 2 degrees apart. At the same time, Comet Lulin will be making its closest approach to Earth--the comet at its best!-- while four of Saturn's moons transit the disk of the ringed planet in view of backyard telescopes. Oh, and the Moon will be New,… Continue

Yes it's poetry, but it's also lava in the limelight.
Dripping, hanging shape
Floating suspended in glass
dance ever slowly.
as like a rose,
or perhaps a vast blue ocean.
And yet other times
you are yellow,
you dream of summer days to come.
round about me,
hypnotizing graceful motion.
Your oozing bouncing

I'm worried about the health of my most beloved lava lamp. It's developing bubbles in the wax. It only started a couple of months ago but it now seems to be getting worse. I think its sick.

The old timers may remember the Christmas Poetry Contest we ran for a few years back in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Well, it's time to dust off that Thesaurus!
Let's have a little fun competition for the best lava lamp
or short story
honoring this year's Hollow's Eve.
No fees, but alas no prizes. Do this because you are creative and you like to beat people to the ground with your superior linguistic technique.… Continue

Has anyone ever made a glitter lamp? I think I might branch out and try it, but I'm not sure of any particular ingredients I should use.

My 52oz. was acting really strange so I started messing with the water solution only to find out the coil had broken into 3 pieces! I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the coil but my goo was bleeding into the water. Very strange-can't imagine why that would all the sudden happen! Does anyone have a suggestion on what coil would work best and where to find them? I'm guessing a hardware store. Also, I added an extra small coil to my other 52 oz. that was running slow and it seemed to… Continue
